In accordance with BS 5266, emergency lighting installations must be tested at regular intervals. The guidelines below detail the required tests and who should perform them.
Any lights that fail to illuminate or do not stay illuminated for the duration of the designated test duration need to be repaired or replaced.
For safety reasons, buildings undergoing a Full System Test with a 3-hour battery discharge should not be occupied until the batteries have recharged which usually takes around 24 hours.
